GPS Tracking System
GPS tracking is the system of monitoring the location of an object (e.g., car, person, animal, equipment, etc.) by attaching a GPS tracking device to it. At its simplest level the tracking device is fitted with a GPS receiver and some way to record its current location (i.e., latitude and longitude) at regular intervals.
Global positioning system (GPS) tracking uses more than 30 satellites in orbit to track the location of an object or device. GPS satellites submit signals that a GPS tracker receives, and this signal is used to obtain detailed information about the device’s location.
GPS trackers are used by fleet managers and vehicle owners to track the location of their vehicles. They provide useful information in a number of scenarios for fleet managers, such as:
1. Tracking Business Data: Business owners and fleet managers who oversee vehicles on a regular basis can use GPS fleet tracking to monitor their movement and track mileage. This is helpful in understanding where employees and vehicles are at a given moment, or where they have travelled throughout the day.
2. Vehicle Location Reporting: If a vehicle is stolen and has a GPS tracker installed, its location can be reported to the authorities who can recover it more quickly.
